We had a great showing at Parkfield, with a ton of podium finishes (including sweeping the Women’s A Short Track Podium). Nice job Sofia, Joanna, and Katie! Let’s keep up our streak of awesomeness and send a huge crew up to Humboldt. We’re staying in a host house, so please bring sleeping bags and over night stuff (not camping stuff). As usual, sign up by Wednesday at 10pm. See you at the race!

Specialized Team Order
In case you missed the action on the list serve, it’s team bike order time! The Specialized team order is happening next Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 pm at Mike’s Bikes in Berkeley. If you want to buy a Specialized bike or equipment, show up. They will have a handful of staff there to help with all sorts of things including choices and sizing.
If you need a bike more immediately, consider buying a 2011 bike right now off the floor at Mike’s. Most of them are discounted around 15%. All brands of 2011 bikes they carry are on sale, not just Specialized bikes.
This is the first of two Specialized bike/equipment orders this year through Mike’s. (The second one will be next semester, but bikes can take a long time to arrive, up to 5 months so if you want a bike for road season, consider buying it now.) This team order will cover both bikes and equipment. If would like to see the lists of bikes and/or equipment available for purchase email me, Katie, at katie.hall@berkeley.edu. Most of the specialized bikes are available, although for some of them the component choices are limited. As for the equipment available, there are bags, bottles, gloves, helmets, saddles, shoes, and tires, all made by Specialized.
Remember, you can only partake in the team order if you have paid dues. So if you want a new bike or some new specialized equipment, get your dues in.
You don’t have to buy the bike next Thursday. The
order will be open for one week following next Thursday. If you are
ready to buy next Thursday, that’s great, but otherwise, still come so
that you know what the deal is. If you decide on buying a bike
or equipment, you can go into Mike’s during the next week and
purchase your bike/equipment.
Also, email me if you don’t think you can make it next Thursday and we’ll work something out. Or if you have questions.
Cheers,
Katie

Bailey Bike Park Trail Work Update
Our recent trail work day at Bailey Bike Park was a big success. The Dual Slalom course just needs a little bit of water and then it’s race ready. The short track needs a little bit of work, but it’ll be a sweet venue! Check out our Facebook page for some photos and videos!
Reno Mountain Bike Race
This weekend is our first mountain bike race, hosted by University of Nevada, Reno. We will be staying at a host house, so we don’t need camping gear. We’re leaving Berkeley on Friday afternoon, and staying in Reno for Friday and Saturday night.
There are two events each day; Cross Country and Super D on Saturday, and Short Track and Downhill on Sunday. We will be reimbursing people $15 per day of racing, which means you only pay $5 for one event, and $5 to race a second event! What a deal! Check out the list below for what you need to bring. Sign ups will close on Wednesday at 10pm Pacific Standard Time, so sign up before then!
Also, make sure to fill out the waivers, and you MUST PAY DUES IN ORDER TO RACE. If you’re going to do more than 3 race weekends, it is worth it to buy an annual racing license for $30 (rather than pay $10 a day for one day licenses). Instructions on paying dues, filling out waivers, and buying a license can be found here.
