Kick Off Meeting

Our start of semester meeting will be on Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00pm in 56 Barrows. There will be a presentation about the team and road racing for any new recruits. Even if you don’t need a review on how racing works, it would probably still be a good idea to come to meet with your team captain to discuss the season and regular training rides, and watch a silly PowerPoint. And we’ll have some free swag!

Home Race Recap & BIG RIDE with Stanford Cycling

For those that haven’t heard, we ended up second place in the Conference in the mountain bike season, with three omnium championsKyle Zampaglione (MC), Joanna Bechtel (WA), and Jessica Kuo (WB). Nice job! Also, Joanna was voted “Most Talented Women’s A” in the awards. Let’s keep this momentum up for the road season!

Speaking of road season, our first official road event is this Sunday.

The BIG GAME is this Saturday, which means the BIG RIDE is on Sunday. For those that don’t know, this is an annual tradition between us and that Jr. college in Palo Alto where we just hand out and ride together. It’s hosted by whoever’s hosting the BIG GAME, which means this year we are driving to Stanford. There will be a 30 mile option,  a 60-70 mile option, an 80 mile option with some dirt, and a mountain bike option!

Although their school is vastly inferior to ours, their riding is comparable. They’ll have coffee and bagels available at 930am. Yes that’s right, FREE BAGELS AND COFFEE. They’ve been completely left out of the whole occupy movement, so let’s do them a favor and occupy their campus while we devour their bagels and coffee.

We will be meeting at West Circle at 815am on Sunday morning to carpool down to their campus with a small tower. Please sign up before Thursday night at 10pm. See you there!

See you this weekend!

  3. XC Reg opens at 7am, not 630am
Sunday Updates
  1. 1 Qualifying run

  3. Practice will open at 8am, not 10am.
All of these changes are reflected on the updated flier: Cal Cycling Classic MTB 2011

Nationals Day 1

We arrived at Angel Fire Resort today to find…tons of snow! We pre-rode the [snowy] course, and it’s gonna be a muddy, cold, and icy race. Joanna, Sofia, and Katie start at 9am, and the forecast calls for 23 deg F. The men, Nitish and Jordan, are racing the cross country at 12noon. Chase, Jordan, and Nitish will race the downhill seeding run tomorrow at 3:45pm. We’ll update with results tomorrow. Go Bears!

Home Course Trail Work Day

Hey Everyone,

Chico was a huge success! We had awesome results, including Joanna winning WA’s; Scott winning MB’s; Kyle, Josh and Andrew placing 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively; and Jessica winning WB’s! Killer job guys and girls!

In other news, our home race is coming up really fast on November 12-13, and we need to get our courses in prime racing condition! This Sunday, October 30, we are having a trail work day at Bailey Bike Park in Pittsburg. Please sign up by Wednesday at 10pm. The exact timing will be sent out later this week, but we will be back to Berkeley in the early afternoon. After doing the trail work, we get to ride the trails!
