Description: Joaquin Miller is another short easy ride appropriate for beginners or those looking for an easy day. The route goes out Tunnel and across Skyline to Joaquin Miller. But, instead of heading right to Redwood, it instead heads left and returns to Berkeley via neighborhood streets (and a bike path) in Claremont, a neighborhood of Oakland. The way back is tricky so make sure you go with someone who knows where they're going the first time.

Mile 0.0 - Sproul Plaza to Tunnel Road.

Mile 6.34 - Continue straight on Skyline past Grizzly Peak.

Mile 11.49 - Turn right on Joaquin Miller at the light. The descent is fast and wide-open, but mind the stop sign at the bottom.

Mile 12.67 - Bear right at the stop sign onto Mountain Rd. When in doubt on this ride, follow Mountain Rd.

Mile 13.30 - At the stop sign, turn left and continue on Mountain Rd.

Mile 14.45 - Bear right at the stop light (left will put you on the freeway).

Mile 14.52 - Take the first left onto Mountain Rd. (again).

Mile 14.85 - Take the second left onto Florence, following by a forced right onto Duncan Wy.

Mile 15.50 - After passing under the freeway, take a right onto a small one lane road into a park. Then, veer right onto the sidewalk to join a bike path off to the right. You should pass a lake and picnic area to your left if you did this right.

Mile 16.05 - Head left onto the road at the end of the path.

Mile 16.55 - Turn left at the second opportunity onto a short nameless road, then immediately turn right at the stop sign onto Golden Gate to cross under 24.

Mile 16.74 - Turn left onto Chabot Rd.

Mile 17.48 - Turn right onto College; follow it all the way to Bancroft.

Mile 19.00 - College and Bancroft. You're back on campus.
